The cuisine at August is contemporary French with a focus on local ingredients, inspired by Chef John Besh's classical training here and in Europe, and by the depth of his own Southern Louisiana roots. August is located in an historic 19th century French-Creole building in New Orleans' Central Business District. August was a semifinalist for the 2012 and 2013 James Beard Awards Outstanding Restaurant, and has been selected by Gayot as a top 40 Restaurant in the United States. The Times Picayune has named it as one of their top 10 Restaurants the last two years in a row.

Had a wonderful dinner here. Our table went with the tasting menu. Absolutely delish. Robert explained each dish with amazing details. Highly recommend.

This spot clearly knows how to treat their customers. Constantly with a kind attitude. The food is reasonably priced, regularly yummy and neat.

Celebrated the holidays in NOLA and spent my birthday here and had a perhaps one of the most phenomenal birthdays to-date!The several course dinner was superb and the staff made us all welcome.One-of-a-kind experiences, I wouldn't mind having again next time I visit New Orleans. August definitely left a lasting impression.

Questions & Answers

As far as I know, you can get in but most people really dress up.

You will be fine with nice jeans and a collard shirt.

Good Luck

No

No, the entree price range is from $37-$48. But there are many small plates/apps.

Yes, and Johns office and admin building is not far from this location:-)

When I went there were plenty of men not wearing a jacket, but they were definitely at the high end of business casual. It's a fancy spot so wearing a jacket would definitely be appropriate, but certainly not necessary

Reservation is strongly suggested. I have been successful eating at the bar during crowded times. They have had special items for Thanksgiving in the past.
